Free of the restrictions of television, the movie featured many character deaths (Optimus Prime, Brawn, Ironhide, Ratchet, Wheeljack, Windcharger, Prowl, and Starscream), as the old guard were wiped out to make room for the next generation of toys. Megatron, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and the Insecticons were remodeled into Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps by a planet-sized Transformer known as Unicron. Megatron and Thundercracker clearly became Galvatron and Scourge, but there is debate as to who actually became Cyclonus, Bombshell or Skywarp. (If all logic is taken into account Skywarp would have comprised the role of Cyclonus due to the fact that the two Seekers, Thundercracker & Skywarp are replaced by Scourge & Cyclonus in the Transformers 2010 toy catalog & that the Insecticons are able to replicate themselves to infinite numbers, in which the Sweeps in the 2010 series numbers at least to eight).

Near the end of the movie, Hot Rod used the Matrix of Leadership to destroy Unicron, save Cybertron and become Rodimus Prime, the new leader of the Autobots, at least until Optimus made his surprise return at the end of the third season. The movie also introduced an adult Spike and his son Daniel.

5. Dark City (1998)

These aliens were creepy and impossibly frightening. The movie had it all: Scary mad scientist/doctor, a confused man who’s lost memories of his wife and his life, scary alien depictions, needles, sharp sudden music and running.
The world of the protagonist is run by telekinetic aliens who are scary as crap. Add to it that the sun there never rises and the city is walled off to a limit and you got the perfect scary depiction of aliens.

The aliens here are tall, come with some sort of tele-kinetic powers and they scare the living day lights out of our poor confused hero.

4. E.T – The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

Not every alien wants to eat you or take over your world. It’s quite hard to accept that notion and it took someone as brilliant as Steven Spielberg to pull that off; and pull it off he did. This went on to become one of the greatest movies ever and the greatest alien movie ever made.
The alien here’s got a profession too. Coming to earth as a Botanist was probably not the best idea seeing how we humans panic at the sight of any alien. The movie makes you want to be a kid again, forgetting all your adult responsibilities and get that impeccable drive in your ideas.

3. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

How can this movie be far away when we talk about aliens? Another one of Steven Spielberg’s great mind, this movie transformed the whole construct of aliens in our minds. The movie was aped my many, including the Director himself, later in his career and M Night Shyamalan in Signs. But nothing could or will ever come close to Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.

The movie has got one of the greatest and most amazing closing sequences of scenes in the history of cinema. The movie has had so much impact that people never look at a plate of mashed potatoes the same way again, ever.

2. Aliens (1986)

If Ridley Scott made an awesome movie in Alien, James Cameron had to answer him. Aliens was not one better, it was way better. The gory scenes, the birth of that child especially was absolutely brilliant. A major part of what makes this movie a classic is the depiction of the aliens. There are not many direct face to face scenes. We have physiological glimpses into their minds. He gives us enough to become engrossed in the film, not question or even doubt the logical flow. This is yet another example of a sequel being as brilliant as the original.

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

This is one of the corner stones of movies involving extra terrestrials. It took the absolutely unfathomable mind of Stanley Kubrick to come up with this. Tracking the evolution of humans from apes to humans to evolved beings that can travel in space, the movie is mind-numbingly brilliant.

The three-minute silence at the start was deliberate according to the director. He just wanted to bathe the audience in the theater in the darkness and wanted to check out their reaction. The beginning with the apes talks about how we evolved, from being gentle beings in solitude to picking an alpha male to protect the herd.

This has the greatest depiction of aliens in fiction only because we don’t even get to see the aliens. But they’re there, so much is clear. If not, who put the monoliths on earth? Who put them in a distant far moon of Jupiter? Is this connected? Is this a pattern?
While the humans on board the space ship, that’s on a recon mission about the monoliths, struggle with a more visible alien, HAL 9000.

Blade

If you are looking for some of the best and gory vampire movies, than you cannot keep Blade out of the competition because it revived the trend of vampires towards the end of twentieth century. Blade was all about a half human half vampire Marvel character who tries his best to protect humans from being vampire victims. The movie was an instant hit because of the action and gore that was shown and soon two sequels were made to entertain the masses with same kind of script.

Underworld

Underworld surely reminds us about the history of vampires through its original script. The movie was released in 2003 and was one of the biggest hit of that year. The movie is about a vampire who is hunting Lycans but falls in love with a human and than gets targeted by Lycans. The movie received a lot of appreciation for its action and gore scenes that were truly a treat to watch. Underworld also had two sequels after the first movie was declared as successful.

30 Days of Night

30 Days of Night was released in 2007 and became an instant hit with the masses for its gore and action. The movie is based on a comic book of the same name but director David Slade gives his movie a more horror appearance to scare the audience. The story is about an Alaskan town where vampires live and flourish when the town enters a thirty days time of darkness. The movie received a lot of appreciation for its slasher scenes.

Against the Dark

Against the Dark is a 2009 action horror film that involves a lot of action and gore because of the vampire-based story. The movie is directed by Richard Crudo and stars Steven Seagal who is seen for the very first time in a horror flick. The movie has a lot of slasher scenes that might not be comfortable to watch but if you love slasher films than you will certainly enjoy this movie for sure.

Van Helsing

Van Helsing got the box office success because of its action and horror combination where a vampire hunter gets into the battle with various kinds of vampires. The movie was an instant hit and people were really scared to see some of the gory scenes on the big screen. The movie stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale in the lead role.

The Forsaken

If you are looking for a good vampire gore movie than watch The Forsaken which was released in 2001. The movie is a about a vampire hunter who is hunting a group of vampires. Though the movie did not do well at the box office it received a lot of appreciation from the audience all over the United States.

Fright Night

Though, the movie does not have some of the best visual effects, Fright Night is a good vampire movie that can give you enough chills if you are watching this flick alone at night. The movie has some excellent scary and gory scenes that will keep you on the edge of the seat.

The Shining – 1980

Directed by Stanley Kubrick this horror flick is based on a novel of the same name by Stephen King. The Shining stars Jack Nicholson as a tormented writer along with Shelley Duvall and Danny Lloyd in the leading role. The movie has a slow pace but soon it takes over the mind and intense drama and tension is revealed that keeps you involved into the movie and scares you to the core. The initial response to the movie was dull but gradually The Shining received a word of mouth publicity to become one of the scariest movies in Hollywood that can give you nightmares for months.

The Exorcist – 1973

If we are talking about Hollywood horror flicks than we cannot forget The Exorcist that change the trend of horror cinema. Directed by William Friedkin, the movie stars Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn and Max von Sydow in the leading role. The movie is inspired from a documented exorcism that was performed on a fourteen year old child. The movie had some of the best special effects and sound effects that scared a lot of people. The spiderwalk scene of the movie became the scariest scene of the movie that promised sleepless nights to the audience. The movie also won an Academy Award for Best Sound and became the most profitable horror movies of all time.

The Omen – 1976

The story of Omen is very much similar to The Exorcist but the execution of the story is so unique that you will not mind watching The Omen and find yourself sweating. The movie revolves around a wealthy US ambassador who adopts a child when he is informed that his wife gave birth to a stillborn child. Directed by Richard Donner, the movie stars Gregory Peck and Lee Remick in the lead role. The movie has a haunting background score that will not let you sleep for weeks and some gore scenes are capable enough to keep you away from having a sound sleep. The Omen does not have the regular horror scenes but the movie has a very creepy feel and penetrates deep inside our subconscious to scare the hell out of us.

The Silence of the Lambs – 1991

To be very honest, The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 thriller movie but the movie is a blend of thriller and horror genre and believe me you will not sleep once you have watched this awesome movie. Directed by Jonathan Demme, the movie stars Anthony Hopkins in one of his best performances ever as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist and a cannibalistic serial killer. The movie won all the top five Academy Awards including Best Picture and people appreciate some of the scenes which were nothing less than horror. The movie also stars Jodie Foster who won the Best Actress Academy Award for the same movie.

Jaws – 1975

Jaws is another thriller movie which is nothing less than a horror movie and had such great impact on the minds of the audience that people began to fear water and many people across United States decided that they will never step into the sea again in their lifetime. Jaws became one of the most successful thrillers of all times. The movie was released in 1975 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie is about a fictional Amity Island where a number of beachgoers become a victim of the great white shark. Pom Poko

Pom Poko is a Japanese animated film that was released in 1994. The movie was directed by Isao Takahata and the story revolves around a group of Japanese raccoon dogs who are very well known in Japanese folklore. These raccoons are usually termed as Tanuki in Japanese culture and are known for their social behavior but they are mischievous as well. In the movie, these animals are shown as realistic animals that seldom wear clothes and are always eating and having fun in the woods. Soon these raccoons are attacked by industrial labors and these tanukis try hard to attack the humans with their testicles which should not be a part of any animated film because it is certainly not the right thing for the kids to watch.

The Incredibles

The Incredibles is a 2004 animated film by Pixar and the movie is directed by Brad Bird. The movie is all about a superhero family who has been gifted with super powers but the government forces them to live a normal life. The next on the list is Cars which again is an animated movie produced by Pixar Studio and directed by John Lasseter and Joe Ranft. The movie might be unique in its own ways but it completely wipes off the existence of humans. The movie is all about anthropomorphic cars that talk and do almost everything that humans do. The movie is about an intelligent hen named Ginger who tries to save her other friends from being dead. Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is a 2010 fantasy  adventure film directed by Tim Burton, written by Linda Woolverton, and stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Michael Sheen and Stephen Fry. It is an extension of the Lewis Carroll novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The film uses a technique of combining live action and animation.In the film, Alice is now 19 years old and accidentally returns to wonderland, a place she previously visited ten years ago. She is told that she is the only one that can slay the Jabberwocky, a dragon controlled by the Red Queen. Burton said the original Wonderland story was always about a girl wandering around to one character to another and he never felt a connection emotionally, so he wanted to make it feel more like a story than a series of events. He doesn’t see this as a sequel to previous films or a re-imagining.It premiered in London at the Odeon Leicester Square on February 25, 2010. It will be released in Australia on March 4, 2010 and the United States and the United Kingdom on March 5, 2010 through Walt Disney Pictures in 3-D and IMAX 3-D, as well as in regular theaters.

Green Zone

Green Zone is an upcoming action  thriller war film  written by Brian Helgeland and directed by Paul Greengrass. The film is based on the 2006 book Imperial Life in the Emerald City by journalist Rajiv Chandrasekaran which is based in the Green Zone, Baghdad. It stars Matt Damon, Amy Ryan, Greg Kinnear, and Brendan Gleeson. Production began in January 2008 in Spain and moved on to Morocco. The film is scheduled to be globally released on March 12, 2010.

Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) — The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Hannibal Lecter, M.D. is a fictional character in a series of novels by author Thomas Harris. Lecter is introduced in the thriller novel Red Dragon as a genius psychiatrist  and cannibalistic serial ki**er. This novel and its sequel, The Silence of the Lambs, feature Lecter as one of two primary antagonists. In the third novel, Hannibal, Lecter becomes the main character. His role as protagonist and anti-hero occurs in the fourth novel, Hannibal Rising, which explores his childhood and development into a serial killer. Lecter’s character also appears in all five film adaptations.The first film, Manhunter, was loosely based on Red Dragon, and features Brian Cox as Lecter, spelled as “Lecktor”. In 2002, a second adaptation of Red Dragon was made under the original title, featuring Anthony Hopkins, who had previously played Lecter in the motion pictures The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. Hopkins won an Academy Award for his performance of the character in The Silence of the Lambs in 1991. In 2003, Hannibal Lecter (as portrayed by Hopkins) was voted by The American Film Institute to be the most memorable villain in film history

Managing to make a fashion statement out of pajamas, a track jacket and leather brogues, the tousle-haired Pitt is all scalp-tugging, neck-rolling and crazy hand mania. But he’s most memorable for his motor-mouthery. “

Lisa Rowe (Angelina Jolie) — Girl, Interrupted (1999)

Girl, Interrupted is a 2000 drama film about a teen’s 18-month stay at a mental institution, starring Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave and Brittany Murphy. It was adapted from the original memoir of the same name, written by Susanna Kaysen. The film was directed by James Mangold, from a screenplay written by Mangold, Anna Hamilton Phelan and Lisa Loomer.

Dr Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) — Batman Begins (2005)

It’s tough to say whether he’s mad or bad — probably a touch of both. But Crane’s the very definition of the lunatic running the asylum, and not just running it but running it into the ground for power, profit and pervere pleasure. His schtick is dosing patients with fear-creating toxins and then putting on his jolly scarecrow mask for added freak-out factor.

Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) — One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

McMurphy is an Irish-American brawler found guilty of battery and gambling  (he had also been charged with, but never convicted of, statutory rae, something which he brags about). He is a Korean War veteran who was a POW during the war. He is sentenced to a fairly short prison term, and decides to have himself declared insane in order to be transferred to a mental institution, where he expects to serve the rest of his time in (comparative) comfort and luxury.McMurphy’s ward in the mental institution is run by the tyrannical Nurse Ratched, who has cowed the patients – who are mostly there by choice – into dejected submission. The two hate each other on sight, and McMurphy goes on a crusade to flout Ratched’s regime of rules and punishment, as well as liberate the other patients from her grip.

Dr.House

House’s character frequently shows his cunning and biting wit, enjoys picking people apart, and often mocks their weaknesses.  House accurately deciphers people’s motives and histories from aspects of their personality and appearance.  His friend and colleague Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) says that while some doctors have the “Messiah complex”—they need to “save the world”, House has the “Rubik’s  complex”—he needs to “solve the puzzle.”  House typically waits as long as possible before meeting his patients.  When he encounters his patients, House shows an unorthodox bedside manner and uses unconventional treatments.  However, he impresses them with rapid and accurate diagnoses after seemingly not paying attention.  This skill is demonstrated in a scene where House diagnoses an entire waiting room full of patients in little over one minute on his way out of the hospital clinic.  Critics have described the character as “moody”, “bitter”, antagonistic”,  “misanthropic”, “cynical”  “grumpy”, “maverick” and a “curmudgeon”.  The Global Language Monitor chose the word “curmudgeon” as the best way to describe the character.

Dexter Morgan

Dexter considers himself emotionally divorced from the rest of humanity; in his narration, he often refers to “humans” as if he is not one of them. However, in the fourth season episode “Road Kill”, Dexter ultimately concludes that if to feel remorse is human, then he must be human as well.Dexter makes frequent references to an internal feeling of emptiness and says he k***s to feel alive. Dexter claims to have no feelings or conscience and that all of his emotional responses are part of a well-rehearsed act to conceal who — or what — he really is. He has no interest in romance or s*x; he considers his relationship with Rita to be part of his “disguise.”There are holes in Dexter’s emotional armor, however. He acknowledges loyalty to family, particularly his late adoptive father: “If I were capable of love, how I would have loved Harry.” Since Harry’s death, Dexter’s only family is his sister, Deborah, Harry’s biological daughter. At the end of the first novel, Dexter admits that he cannot hurt Deborah or allow Brian to harm her because he is “fond of her.” In the final episode of the TV show’s second season, he finally admits that he needs the people in his life. In the fourth season, Dexter hunts a female police officer whom he discovered m****ed her own husband and young daughter. While he is preparing to k**l her, Dexter finds himself admitting that he does not want to lose his new family. He appears to be nearly overwhelmed by this emotional revelation, before quickly k*****g the woman.

Eden Lord

Eden is the daughter of Julia McNamara’s new lover, Olivia. She made her first appearance in 5.03. After a consult seeking to reconstruct her hy*en, she begins to make strong se**al advances towards Julia’s ex-husband Sean. He responds in disgust, calling her a “disturbed sociopath”. He later finds himself having se**al fantasies about her. Sean soon becomes unnerved when he learns his 12-year-old daughter Annie has developed an admiration for her. However, Eden appears to be more interested in manipulating and corrupting Annie than forming a friendship. She manages to convince Annie she is over-weight and advises her to get liposuction. After Sean forbids it, Annie is expelled after Eden teaches her about oral s*x, which Annie then uses on the boy she likes

Meredith Grey

Meredith Grey is the only child born to Ellis Grey and Thatcher Grey. She spent the early part of her childhood in Seattle, Washington, where her mother was completing her surgical residency at Seattle Grace Hospital. Her parents’ marriage was troubled, and her mother was involved in a years-long affair with her colleague, Dr. Richard Webber. Roy Walter

Roy Walter (Nicolas Cage) is a troubled con artist residing in Los Angeles, California. After saying goodbye to their owners one morning, the puppies decide to play hide-and-seek when Budderball finds an ice-cream truck. Rosebud spots the hapless canine and follows him in an attempt to help. Hilarity ensues when Buddha finds them both in the truck and B-Dog and Mud-Bud end up in the truck which is shipping to outside the town of Ferntiuktuk, Alaska.In Alaska, the Buddies meet Shasta, a young husky whose owner wants nothing more than to mush. The puppies take a vote to help a grateful Shasta to pursue his dreams. Unfortunately, as Shasta has no parents, this puts the puppies in a predicament as there is nobody to teach them how to become snow dogs and the local population of older puppies sneers at the thought of them learning how. Eight Below In 1993, Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker) is a guide at an Antarctica  research base under contract with the National Science Foundation. UCLA professor, Dr. Davis McClaren (Bruce Greenwood) arrives at the base and presses Shepard to take him to Mount Melbourne to attempt to find a rare meteorite  from the planet Mercury. Shepard does so against his own intuition, which tells him that it is too late in the season (January) to complete such a treacherous route. Worried about the snowmobiles breaking through the thinning ice or falling in a crevasse, Shepard tells his boss and McClaren that the only way to get to Mount Melbourne is by dog sled.Shepard and McClaren make it to Mount Melbourne but are immediately called back to base camp due to an approaching storm. McClaren begs for some time, and Shepard gives him half a day. McClaren finds what he was looking for and the two head back to the sled.

When Will, in an attempt to pull his father out, gets caught in the rope, Jack cuts it, allowing the dogs to escape, and pull Will away. Unfortunately, Jack’s action causes his own death. At first Will blames Gus, the lead dog, for his death, but later blames himself. After this, Will must provide for his family. In order to save his family from financial ruin, Will decides to enter a dog sled race. His mother wants Will to use part of the prospective $10,000 race winnings for college, but Will just wants to save the farm. With the aid of Indian handyman Ned Dodd, Will begins to train for the race.

Snow Dogs Theodore “Ted” Brooks (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is a dentist in Miami, Florida. His picture appears on city buses, in ads promoting his dental practice. When he receives a letter from Alaska one day naming him as the only heir of a Lucy Watkins, his mother reveals that he is adopted. Brooks travels to the village of Tolketna, Alaska, to claim his inheritance left by his late birth mother – seven Siberian Huskies and a Border Collie – and discovers his roots. Totally out of his element, he has to face challenges he has never dreamed of: blizzards, thin ice, an intimidating, crusty old mountain man called Thunder Jack (played by James Coburn in one of his final roles), and the aggressive, defiant lead dog, Demon. All of this happens with the buzzing excitement of the Arctic Challenge Sled Dog Race which is only two weeks away.During his stay in Tolketna, Brooks tries to find the reason he was given up for adoption, including any information about his father. Ted meets a barmaid named Barb who was a friend of his late birth mother Lucy. She helps Ted deal with the dogs and teaches him how to drive a sled, and falls in love with him during the course of the movie. Ted continues to encounter Thunder Jack, who wants all of his late mother’s sled dogs, especially Demon. (Lucy was once a winner of the Arctic Challenge.)
