7 Most American Movies Ever
In honor of the 4th of July, take a look to the movies that make us proud to be an American.
The Patriot
Mel Gibson defeats the British army by using his wit, sharp-shooting, and gray pony tail. While Gibson may have gotten himself into hot water as of late, what with the drunk driving and antisemitism, this was made when Americans still loved the guy… and damnit if he doesn’t love America.
Dazed and Confused
Nothing screams American high school epic like D&C. The music, the beer, the weed – it’s like someone followed your parents around with a video camera so you could see how hard they rocked back in the day.
Team America: World Police
Independence Day
I’ve already discussed how Will Smith is a true American Hero. So might as well take the time to travel back in time and see how he saved us from the alien armada.
Risky Business
It’s a film about becoming your own business man. About entrepreneurial investment. About working hard so you can get into an Ivy League school. It’s a movie about prostitutes. AMERICAN prostitutes.
Forest Gump
Tom Hanks basically recounts the past 50 years in American history so that you don’t have to actually learn about it. And if making things into movies so you don’t have to read isn’t American, then I don’t know what is anymore.
The Natural
There is nothing more American than a game of baseball and nothing more heart-warming than a comeback story. So if sports is your thing, why not revisit America’s favorite pasttime with Roy Hobbs and blow out some stadium lights.
